I’m supposed to meet up with Gary and Qiu Yan at 8.45 today. BUT I woke up late and the bus came late and I missed the train so ya, I was late. Lol. I woke up at 7.30 and have to go out SUPPOSEDLY at 7.45 but went out at 8.05. Waited for the bus until 8.12 and the bus reached the interchange at 8.25 and I just missed the train and had to wait 5 minutes for it. I got on the train at 8.31 and so I reached Jurong East at 8.55. hehe. The only good thing is that I got a seat. Haha. Of course had to apologize to Gary and Qiu Yan. BUT when we reached Science Centre, had to wait for more then 30 mins before we could enter Science Centre because it turns out that Mr. Chaled is on course and we have to get another person to let us in today. Firstly we were briefed about the criteria on how we’re supposed to judge the toys. Then we were brought to the rooms and we were given time to choose as much toys as possible for short listing. It is kind of hard as there are a whole lot of toys and the toys from the same school were almost the same kind. But we had fun playing the toys.
After our lunch break, although we were given packed food, Huihui and Qiu Yan still went to buy food at McDonalds. We were supposed to continue picking up more toys but we ended up playing. Xiu Bin aka Xavier dressed up as a girl which is sooo hilarious…then we sat down at the staircase enjoying our snacks. I ate apple pie =)! Mr. Chaled at last came to meet us. He wasn’t supposed to be there and supposed to be at IMM where there is an event going on. We’re all going to check out the place after we settled the short listing.
After picking out about 60 toys, we decided to call it a day and move on to IMM. Qi De, Shermaine and Xiubin did not join us over there. When we came there, we were actually supposed to walk around and check out the place. But in the end, Mr. Chaled asked us whether we want to conduct the workshops. He gave us the t-shirt to change in. it was super random la!! I was stationed at the registration at first. Gary and Qiu Yan at one workshop while Bao Ling and Huihui at another. I made friends with a girl (err I forgot her name. hehe) who is also at the registration. She is also in SP year 1 in Applied Drama with Psychology. Gary had to go off earlier as he was working so I took over his place. The kids are super cute la!! The whole workshop tingy is to teach the kids how to make either a round hat tingy with feelers that is supposed to represent an insect with feelers or this windmill tingy with a bee to represent a bee at work. Of course we have to caution them as there is glue and scissors which can be dangerous for the kids. The first few batches of kids were kind of well-behaved but the last batch was really a handful.
There is this boy who came in and started playing with the glue. My attention was to the boy beside him so I didn’t realize it at first. When I saw what he was doing, I was like, “no, you cannot play with the glue. It’s very sticky and if it’s at your hand later your hand stick together and cannot move how??” I was really kind of frustrated but I cannot scold the kid right?? And when he finished and was waiting for the rest, his mum was asking him to take the glue and paste the finishing touches and he was like, “the glue very sticky. I cannot touch. If I touch later my hand cannot move.” I was trying not to laugh la. He actually listened to what I said!! But ya the irritating part was that he kept on calling me auntie and he was really impatient. He insisted on cutting the eyes himself and when the mum saw that his eyes looked kind of distorted, she actually asked ME to cut it out properly to a proper shape. Haiz…what to do.
After that had to take a LONG time before Mr. Chaled agreed to take a picture with us. Oh and the temp staff working there gave us a handmade flower. Really cute! They are earning really big bucks! 7.50 per hour, ten hours a day. The girl at registration counted and she said that she’ll be earning 1050 bucks on this project alone!!! That’s super a lot la. When I work at metro, I have to work several days of overtime, a 6 day week with only a weekday off in order for me to earn 1000+!!! Super unfair. Reached home around 8+.
Anws…after I came back for lunch just now, I received a call from the PC show people. The job that I applied with kakak the other time. I was really hoping that kakak got it as well but when I asked her she said no…haiz. I have to come down for training on Friday. The timing 7-9pm. Wth right…but I guess a job is better than nothing…*shrugs*.
